The Ames Library of South Asia was donated to the University of Minnesota in 1952 by Charles Lesley Ames, former vice president of West Publishing Company. The donation consisted of over 25,000 books, maps, charts, photographs and related materials pertaining to India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and other south Asian areas, with particular emphasis in the interaction of Britain and India.
